After watching customers visit Chick-fil-A for breakfast with competitors’ coffee in hand, the Atlanta-based chicken chain decided to make a change in 2014. It began a partnership with Thrive Farmers Coffee, a beverage startup that helps farmers sell directly to businesses and gives them a share of the revenue. Thrive Farmers created coffee blends that pair with the restaurant’s breakfast offerings and have won the “specialty grade” distinction from the Specialty Coffee Association of America. Chick-fil-A has also joined the iced-coffee set, with traditional and vanilla-sweetened offerings.
