"Circle K is very enthusiastic about the beginning of what we feel will be a growing and prosperous business partnership with Icelandic Glacial. Having [image-nocss] an exceptional product in our convenient retail stores will only add to our mutual success" said Russ Kidd, category manager of package beverage for Circle K.
"We are delighted to provide our premium water to Circle K's vast marketplace," said Jon Olafsson, chairman and co-founder of Icelandic Glacial. "We can now deliver one of the world's purest waters to an even broader demographic in the national marketplace."
Icelandic Glacial is bottled at the source from the Olfus Spring in Iceland.
As the world's first CarbonNeutral-certified bottled spring water for both product and operations, Icelandic Glacial delivers a water of exceptional purity to consumers with a "net zero" carbon footprint, it said.
Located in Olfus, Iceland, Icelandic Glacial is an environmental pioneer in the industry. The company uses 100% natural green energy in the form of geothermal and hydroelectric power to fuel production. Olfus Spring is a naturally replenished catchment zone formed during a massive volcanic eruption more than 4,500 years ago, and which has been deemed certifiably sustainable by Zenith International, a leading food and drinks consultancy in Europe.
Icelandic Glacial is distributed in the United States by Anheuser-Busch, which took a 20% ownership stake in the company in July 2007.
Laval, Quebec-based Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. currently operates a network of more than 5,900 convenience stores, more than 4,175 of which include motor-fuel dispensing. The stores are operated by 12 business units, including nine in the United States (primarily under the Circle K banner) covering 42 states and the District of Columbia, and three in Canada (under the Couche-Tard and Mac's banner) covering all 10 provinces.
