CSDs Volume Down 4.3% in Recent Weeks

Coke sees volume decline 7.9% even as dollar sales grow

NEW YORK -- Volume sale of carbonated soft drinks continued to slide in convenience stores during the four-week period ending March 14, 2015, according to a Wells Fargo Securities report citing Nielsen data.

Dollar sales were flat for the period, while unit volume declined 4.3%.

Meanwhile, iced teas grew 10.3% in dollar sales, sports drinks were up 0.9%, bottled-water dollar sales grew 4.1%, and energy-drink sales were up 13.0%.

Coca-Cola was the biggest loser during the period, with unit volume down a painful 7.9%. Stil, dollar sales grew slightly (+0.8%) as the beverage maker continues to drive price increases through its variety of package sizes.
