Heineken Honors Distributor With Responsibility Award

Andrews Distributing actively promoted safe-ride-home programs

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Heineken USA awarded the Andrews Distributing Co. of North Texas with its 1864 Award for Responsibility. The award, which recognizes a top distributor for best-in-class practices promoting responsible consumption and moderation, was presented to the Dallas-based company Feb. 26 during the HUSA National Distributor Conference in New Orleans.

To be considered for the annual award, distributors submitted their responsible-consumption initiatives, many of which integrate HUSA programs including: safe-ride partnerships with transportation network companies such as Uber; Alcohoot, the world’s first smartphone breathalyzer promoting smart decisions based on blood alcohol content; and Health Alliance on Alcohol, a national public initiative, developed in partnership with HUSA, New York-Presbyterian Healthcare System, and White Plains Hospital, that provides parents, mentors, and community leaders free and impactful tools to spark conversations with teens to prevent underage drinking.

“Since the beginning, Heineken has been committed to encouraging the responsible consumption of our products and to taking an active role in the communities where we live and work,” said Ray Faust, chief sales officer, Heineken USA. “We are proud to work with partners that embrace these values and actively strive to put responsibility into action. This year, Andrews Distributing Company of North Texas went above and beyond to make a difference in the communities they serve.”

Andrews Distributing has consistently been a leader in promoting a responsible consumption culture with its employees, customers and the community at large, according to HUSA. This past year, Andrews Distributing proactively partnered with HUSA to execute several co-branded responsibility campaigns in the Dallas-Fort Worth and Corpus Christi markets to promote safe rides home. In North Texas through a partnership with Uber, Andrews Distributing provided over 275 free rides home to first time users and engaged thousands of current Uber users through digital and radio supported responsibility promotions. In South Texas, Andrews Distributing executed a holiday safe-ride-home program where hundreds of people received a free cab ride home. In addition, the distributor supports many local and statewide initiatives that advocate for moderate consumption and helps build awareness of responsibility programs such as the Health Alliance on Alcohol.

“We are very proud to receive this prestigious award that recognizes our partnership with Heineken USA to promote safe and responsible consumption,” said Barry Andrews, CEO, Andrews Distributing Co. “Being an active ethical and responsible member of the North and South Texas communities we serve is wholly ingrained in our organization.”
