Jamba Juices Up Breakfast

Testing morning menu in N.Y., L.A.

EMERYVILLE, Calif. -- Healthy blended beverages and snacks quick-service restaurant (QSR) chain Jamba Juice recently launched a new breakfast test in New York and Los Angeles.

"Breakfast is the fastest-growing daypart in QSR, a trend which we expect to be very complementary to Jamba Juice's current lineup of healthy blended beverages," said Paul Coletta, senior vice president of marketing and brand development of Jamba. "These new products have taken the traditional smoothie one step further, offering unique, on-the-go healthy breakfast alternatives.[image-nocss]

The Jamba breakfast test will feature a variety of "meal-in-a-cup" items as well as a greater emphasis on juice blends. The new products will include the first smoothies to be eaten with a spoon, an evolution from Jamba's current menu.

Granola Toppers are a nutritionally balanced breakfast of blended fruit, low-fat yogurt and soymilk topped with crunchy, organic granola. Flavors include Rise & Berry and Mango Peach Paradiso. Chunky Smoothies are a blend of soymilk and non-fat yogurt with chunks of fruit and organic granola in two flavors: Morning Glory (strawberry, banana and peanut butter) and Jungle Jumpstart (a aa a , blueberries and bananas). Yogurt Blends are a healthy blend of berries, nonfat yogurt and soymilk in two flavors: Sunrise Strawberry and Bright Eyed & Blueberry. Juice Blends are blends of fresh-squeezed orange juice and other all-natural fruit juices in Tangy Citrus, Tropical Passion and Sweet Sunshine flavors. Freshly Squeezed Juices including Orange and Carrot Juice.

The tests are being launched with the support of outdoor, radio and guerilla marketing tactics in both markets.
