Brad Gerndt received a supersized cardboard check on Tuesday after his name was drawn from a pool of the approximately 100 people who submitted "Go Kup" in the West Des Moines convenience store chain's Name Our Kup contest, said the report.
Kum & Go said the summerlong contest [image-nocss] drew more than 30,000 entries. Names submitted in May and June where culled into a list of five finalists that then were voted on throughout the month of July via a special website, www.nameourcup.com. Voting required a code from a Kum & Go receipt.

Chain officials said "Go Kup" ended up with about half the votes and was submitted by the most people.
" 'Go Kup' really rolls off the tongue," Gerndt told the newspaper. "It's an action statement...and I'm all about action."
Kevin Krause, senior vice president of marketing for Kum & Go, told the paper that the convenience store chain has committed to using Go Kups throughout its stores through the end of the year. The name could become permanent, he added, if it proves popular.
West Des Moines, Iowa-based Kum & Go has more than 430 convenience stores in 11 states (Iowa, Arkansas, Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wyoming).
