No Crash': Good Goal for Energy Drinks, Racing

5-Hour Energy to fuel Steve Wallace, Rusty Wallace Racing in 2009
MOORESVILLE, N.C. -- Officials of Living Essentials LLC and Rusty Wallace Racing LLC (RWR) have announced that LE, through its 5-Hour Energy brand, will return for its second season as primary sponsor of Rusty Wallace Racing's No. 66 team and driver Steve Wallace in 2009.

5-Hour Energy will serve as primary sponsor of Wallace's No. 66 Chevrolet in ten 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series events, beginning with the March 21 race at Bristol Motor Speedway, in which Wallace claimed his first career Nationwide Series pole in 2007. Additionally, 5-Hour Energy will serve as an associate [image-nocss] sponsor on the No. 66 for the remainder of the 2009 Nationwide Series schedule.

Living Essentials officials said the company plans to promote the sponsorship through a variety of marketing channels, including a continuation of the company's national television advertising featuring Steve and Rusty Wallace, which began in late 2008.

"Our partnership with Rusty Wallace Racing is a great way not only to align 5-Hour Energy with an exciting young race team, but also spread the word about the hours of alertness and focus our product provides. We are looking forward to our expanded relationship with the team and are excited about getting started on the 2009 season," said Living Essentials vice president of marketing Carl Sperber.

Living Essentials, Novi, Mich., is a biotech consumer products company formed to develop healthcare technologies and create brands and distribution around them. The company's 5-Hour Energy product is a 2-oz. energy drink that provides hours of energy, alertness and focus with "no crash and no jitters" (the company defines "crash" as "energy below baseline" and said individual results may vary). It contains a blend of B-vitamins and amino acids, zero sugar, and only four calories. 5-Hour Energy is available at retail outlets throughout the United States and Canada.

Mooresville, N.C.-based Rusty Wallace Racing is a professional auto racing team "steeped in the legendary history of its founder and one of NASCAR's top-ten winningest drivers of all-time, Rusty Wallace." In 2008, the organization campaigned the No. 66 and No. 64 entries in the Nationwide Series, piloted by third-generation wheelman, Steve Wallace, 2003 Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year, David Stremme and former Grand-American Rolex Sports Car Series Champion, Max Papis. The team had primary backing from Atreus Homes & Communities, Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches, Penske Truck Rental, 5-Hour Energy, Oakley and Chevrolet.
