He started his career in 1981 working in several operations of the Byrne family business, to include warehousing, ice cream production, depot operations [image-nocss] and the company's retail stores where he stocked shelves and provided customer service.
Most recently, Byrne held a number of key senior management roles across Sonbyrne such as store operations manager, vice president of retail operations and executive vice president.
In making the announcement, Carl Byrne, president of Byrne Dairy, said, "We are excited to have Mark lead our convenience store operations and put his energy and ideas to work in leading one of the most recognizable brands."

Founded in 1933, Byrne Dairy provides dairy products including milk, cream and ice cream to customers in New York. The first Byrne Dairy Store opened in 1952 in central New York. Today, the chain includes 53 convenience stores, which all sell tobacco, alcohol and snack items along with Byrne Dairy milk and ice cream; 25 of the stores sell private-brand gasoline.
