Abbie Jarman Joins FARE Magazine

CSP's new foodservice publication to launch February 2009

OAK BROOK, Ill. -- Abbie Jarman, former editor of Chef Magazine, Chef Educator Today and Pizza & Italian Cuisine, will oversee the new FARE magazine published by CSP Information Group. FARE magazine debuts in February 2009 and will publish five times next year, reaching out to nontraditional foodservice operators including convenience stores, colleges and universities, bookstores, drug chains, military bases, supermarkets, clubs, mass merchants and more.

The magazine comes on the heels of CSP's inaugural Foodservice at Retail Expo (FARE), a cross-channel trade show held in August at [image-nocss] the Renaissance Hotel & Convention Center in Schaumburg.

"We will extend the solutions-driven, analytical coverage of CSP and CSP Independent to FARE magazine," said CSP Group Editor Mitch Morrison. "Abbie is blessed with tremendous people skills and offers outstanding foodservice industry knowledge that will enable veteran and new nontraditional foodservice operators to maximize their bottom line."

Jarman, who will serve as FARE magazine's executive editor, said the new publication will probe the myriad challenges facing nontraditional foodservice operators. “With the emphasis on providing customers with fresh and tasty offerings, retailers not only have to market and merchandise smartly, but they must face the challenges and complexities across the entire supply chain, from distribution to food handling to food safety."

"Retailer meal solutions is an ever-growing category affecting both retail and foodservice and defining the way Americans eat. I'm very excited that FARE magazine will be the first to help foodservice retailers not in the restaurant business build a dynamic profit destination for their stores," she said.

Ted Asprooth will serve as publisher of FARE magazine and brings a wealth of industry experience in the c-store arena. "This magazine will be like no other," he said. "We're covering more channels and bringing solutions that will help suppliers understand the challenges retailers—from c-stores to book stores—face day to day; and help retailers maximize their profit and revenue potential in fresh foodservice."

The magazine will work in partnership with the Foodservice at Retail Expo trade show, which is scheduled to host its second annual event on August 17-19, 2009. For more information about the FARE show go to www.foodserviceatretail.com
