Ampm Adds Items to Breakfast Menu

Burritos, empanadas, croissant sandwiches join lineup
SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- BP's ampm is waking up customers with an expanded breakfast menu starting this September. The new morning menu debuted this week featuring new proprietary products such as burritos and empanadas in addition to croissant sandwiches.

A promotion supporting the launch will allow customers to receive a free 12-oz. Tropicana orange juice with the purchase of one breakfast item from September 2 through November 3 at participating stores.

The launch is being supported with radio and TV advertising, coupons distributed via text alerts and a sampling [image-nocss] day on September 23 at participating stores.

"Breakfast is a very important part of the day for our on-the-go customers," said Bill Fry, president of BP U.S. Convenience Retail. "Our new menu and the promotional push behind it will ensure customers are aware of ampm as the destination choice for breakfast."

The morning menu will be available daily from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the hot-food areas of ampm stores across the nation.

The menu contains the following offerings:
Two breakfast burritos: The Works, filled with smoked ham, bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns and three cheeses; and the Chorizo con Papas, filled with chorizo, eggs, potatoes and a three-cheese blend. Two empanadas (stuffed pastries): one with sausage, egg and cheese and the other with chorizo, egg and cheese. Depending on the region, ampms will offer two or three croissant sandwichesone with sausage, egg and cheese; another with ham, egg and cheese; and a third croissant sandwich: bacon, egg and pepper-jack cheese. "Consumers told us they want a variety of products with high-quality ingredients," said Fry. "This breakfast menu delivers that."

The ampm brand was founded in 1978 in Southern California by Atlantic Richfield (ARCO), which was acquired by BP in 2000. ARCO-branded ampm stores are currently found in California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington and Arizona; BP-branded ampm stores are located in Chicago, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Orlando, Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Atlanta.

BP supplies more than 15 billion gallons of gasoline every year to U.S. consumers through 12,000 retail outlets. BP is the single, global brand formed by the combination of the former British Petroleum, Amoco, ARCO, ARAL and Burmah Castrol.
