The Business of Food

FARE conference to drive debate, find common threads to connect all foodservice channels

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. -- For the eighth consecutive year, CSP Business Media will bring every channel of foodservice together for a three-day conference. FARE 2015: The Business of Food combines education, networking, personal enrichment and trade show elements.

Sysco Corp., the nation's largest foodservice-supply company, will again be the presenting sponsor of the annual event, which will be held at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn., from June 22-24, 2015.

Interested foodservice operators and suppliers may register for the event by visiting www.FAREConference.com.

"The FARE Conference is by far the most significant event in the foodservice industry," said David Jobe, president of leadership conferences at CSP Business Media. "We've seen the distinct lines that once separated commercial from non-commercial and retail from convenience have blurred. Thus, the FARE Conference has evolved to present insights into how peers from each foodservice quadrant deal with problems and opportunities as successes in one segment dictate expectations from all others. The partnership between CSP Business Media and Sysco Corp. has created a top-level exchange you can't get anywhere else."

The FARE conference brings together c-suite and executive-level personnel, foodservice and marketing directors, menu development executives, purchasing managers and chefs from traditional restaurants and commercial and non-commercial operations for three days of education, networking and relationship-building opportunities.

A staple at FARE is the Food Pavilion, an intimate trade show element where attendees can eat, drink and sample their way through the industry's latest promotions, newest products and most innovative concepts. Open for five hours during the second day of FARE, the unique setting of the Food Pavilion allows for buyers and vendors to connect and collaborate.

FARE offers more than three-dozen hours of ideas and market perspectives from every side of the foodservice spectrum. It will bring in thought-leaders from both inside and outside the foodservice world to discuss today's challenges and present future trends for profitable foodservice growth with the ultimate goal of giving all attendees an abundance of ideas to implement and transform their business operations and their life.

A few of the highlighted speakers include:

  • Howard Behar, former president of Starbucks.
  • David Cooper, USN Seal (Ret.).
  • Andrew Davis, author of Brandscaping: Unleashing the Power of Partnerships.
  • Sig Hansen, captain of the fishing vessel Northwestern, and star of Deadliest Catch.
  • Paul Jankowski, founder and chief strategist at New Heartland.
  • Leon Panetta, former U.S. Secretary of Defense.
  • Jonathan Waxman, celebrity chef, restaurateur, author and star of Top Chef Masters.

Unique networking opportunities are also planned for the event. FARE will present the third-annual Culinary Competition, which challenges culinarians from different channels to create "out-of-the-box" portable meals. The event will occur during the first night's strolling dinner. Tuesday night will feature an exclusive concert headlined by country crooner Matt Stillwell at Nashville's world-famous Wildhorse Saloon.

The CARRE Foundation (Charitable Alliance of Restaurant & Retail Executives) will play a critical role in supporting MSA (Multiple System Atrophy), a rare neurological disorder that impairs the human body's involuntary functions. The drive for MSA research is inspired by two industry colleagues: Kerry Simon, celebrity chef and restaurateur, and Rex Griswold, beloved member of Nestlé Waters North America.
