Casey's Debuts New Pizza Campaign

New promo targets 'value-conscious' customers

ANKENY, Iowa --Casey's General Stores has rolled out a new Pizza to Pump program that provides a $2 maximum discount on the purchase of any large pizza. The promotion offers customers a 10-cent coupon for every gallon of fuel they purchase, up to 20 gallons. The coupon discount can then be applied toward the purchase of a large pizza.

"We recognize that our customer continues to be value-conscious," said Terry Handley, president and CEO of Casey's General Stores. "We've offered this promotion in the past, in select market areas, with great success. As fuel prices have risen recently, we believe this offer will lessen the strain on our consumers."

Handley remarked on the importance of appealing to value-conscious customers in the face of rising fuel costs during Casey's second-quarter fiscal 2018 earnings call, during which company executives also detailed the toll that "adverse weather" in the Midwest took on customer traffic during the back half of the quarter—particularly in October. However, Casey's executives also called its prepared foods and fountain category as its "most effective," up 5.5% and totaling $262 million for the quarter.

Ankeny, Iowa-based Casey's General Stores operates more than 2,000 convenience stores in 15 states. It ranked No. 4 in CSP's 2017 Top 202 list of the largest c-store chains in the United States.
