Circle K in Carthage, Ill., Opens Chester's Location

Iowa State University also adds QSR concept to food court

CARTHAGE, Ill. -- Circle K debuted its latest Chester's retail site, located in Carthage, Ill., this week. Chester's has 16 locations with Circle K throughout the Midwest.

Circle K held a grand opening event Tuesday. Members of the community and surrounding areas joined the festivities, and Chester the Chicken made a special guest appearance.

This location will serve Chester's on the Fly signature menu items--chicken tenders, chicken biscuits, potato wedges and dipping sauce. It ran a special promotion; customers were able to purchase a chicken biscuit for 99 cents.

"Our partnership with Circle K is ideal for both parties," said James Venable, vice president of store operations with Chester's International, Birmingham, Ala. "Everyone sells candy bars, gas and snacks, but not everyone sell fresh fried chicken."

Circle K's parent company, Laval, Quebec-based Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc., is a leader in the North American convenience store industry. Couche-Tard's network currently includes approximately 6,100 c-stores throughout North America, including about 4,500 stores with fuel. It has agreements for the supply of motor fuel to 357 sites operated by independent operators. Its North-American network consists of 13 business units, including nine in the United States covering 40 states and the District of Columbia (under the Circle K banner) and four in Canada covering all 10 provinces (under the Couche-Tard and Mac's banners).

In other Chester's news, the company has recently opened several Chester's restaurants on college campuses around the United States. Iowa State University added Chester's Chicken to its food court earlier this fall.

The Cyclones can now partake of Chester's chicken for breakfast, lunch and dinner. ISU students and faculty can choose from chicken biscuits, tenders, Chester Breaster Sandwich, Grilled Chicken Sandwich or Chester's potato wedges. Most of these items include a choice of six Chester's dipping sauces.

"Chester's is a great addition to our ISU Memorial Union Food Court. The combination of quality chicken products with Chester's signature sauces and sides is really exciting for our students and guests," said Brian Reichert, ISU Memorial Union food court manager.

Chester's is a leader of quick-serve restaurant (QSR) concepts with more than 1,900 Chester Fried licensed and Chester's franchised locations. Along with its menu, Chester's offers flexible size and store layout options, training and support. Chester's uses only fresh chicken that is specially marinated and double-breaded using a proprietary family recipe and offers bone-in, tenders and potato wedges as well as sandwiches, wraps, salads, breakfast and sides.
