Competing for the 'First Cup'

Office coffee services gunning for c-stores

ST. LOUIS -- Office coffee services should ramp up the quality of their offering and enhance customer service to take "the first cup" away from convenience stores, said the National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA). That will be the competitive message when the group rolls out its Quality Coffee Certification Program (QCCP) at its expo in St. Louis on October 15. The program will demonstrate how to build customer loyalty through premium products "and help office coffee service operators distinguish themselves from convenience stores and other operators,” NAMA coffee service director [image-nocss] Roger Stewart said.

“Customer loyalty should be the goal of office coffee service operators; they buy a broader range of products from you and they remain a customer longer. The QCCP this year will show that providing a quality cup of coffee matched with superior customer service is one way to cultivate loyal customers,” added Stewart.

“Many coffee-savvy consumers are looking and asking for better coffee in the work environment. Competition for premium coffee and that consumer driving to the office each morning is heating up. Local c-store chains want consumers to get their first cup of coffee on the way to work. As an operator, you want them to have that first cup of coffee at work. This QCCP session will help your company differentiate yourself from other operators and the local c-store chain,” concluded Stewart.

Chicago-based NAMA is the national trade association of the food and refreshment vending, coffee service and foodservice management industries including onsite, commissary, catering and mobile. Its membership is comprised of service companies, equipment manufacturers and suppliers of products and services to operating service companies. The basic mission of the association, to collectively advance and promote the automatic merchandising and coffee service industries.
