Conagra Brands Acquires Sandwich Bros. of Wisconsin

Move is part of manufacturer's goal to grow in handheld-foods category

CHICAGO -- Conagra Brands Inc. has completed its acquisition of Sandwich Bros. of Wisconsin, a manufacturer of frozen sandwiches.

The transaction adds premium, grab-and-go offerings to Conagra's branded food company portfolio. Sandwich Bros. of Wisconsin, based in Milwaukee, makes flatbread pocket sandwiches featuring ingredients such as 100% Angus beef, antibiotic-free chicken and locally produced ingredients. Conagra said Sandwich Bros. will continue to produce its products in its Milwaukee factory.

“Adding the Sandwich Bros. business to our portfolio is another step in Conagra Brands’ ongoing work to accelerate growth,” Sean Connolly, president and chief executive officer of Chicago-based Conagra Brands, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel after entering into a definitive agreement for the purchase late last year. “This acquisition will bring Conagra unique capabilities and expertise within the frozen handheld category, which we look forward to leveraging for further growth and extension into additional Conagra brands.”

In 2017, Conagra also acquired Thanasi Foods LLC, maker of Duke's meat snacks and Bigs seeds, and Angie's Artisan Treats LLC, maker of Angie's Boomchickapop popcorn.

Conagra’s brands include Marie Callender’s, Reddi-wip, Hunt’s, Healthy Choice, Slim Jim and Orville Redenbacher.
