Ruiz ranks 2nd among top 10 U.S. Hispanic manufacturing firms

DINUBA, Calif. -- Ruiz Foods ranked second among the Top 10 U.S. Hispanic-owned manufacturing firms according to Hispanic Business magazine (June 2006), the company said.

The maker of El Monterey-branded frozen Mexican food was also ranked first among the top 10 U.S. Hispanic-owned companies in California and 19th among the top 500 Hispanic-owned businesses in the United States, according to the magazine.

Our growth this past year continues to be very solid and double-digit. We attribute this to our commitment to product quality, [image-nocss] innovation and authenticity and are very proud of what our team members and our vision can accomplish, said Fred Ruiz, chairman, CEO and co-founder of Dinuba, Calif.-based Ruiz Foods. In January, our Denison [Texas] distribution warehouse and manufacturing facility began shipping product to our customersless than nine months from when we began its renovationa testament to the Ruiz culture in action as we continue to fulfill our commitment to our customers by enhancing all levels of customer service.

Ruiz Foods is a privately owned corporation with more than 2,000 team members. Along with the Denison facility, it also a has manufacturing facility located in Tulare, Calif. The company was co-founded in 1964 by Fred Ruiz and his father, Louis Ruiz. Third generation Kim Ruiz Beck, the elder daughter of Fred Ruiz, is vice chairman. Bryce Ruiz, the elder son, is president and COO. Siblings Kelly Ruiz Hanchett serves on the board.

It serves the retail, convenience store, club, vending, industrial and foodservice channels of trade.
