Cumberland Farms Openings Help Schools

Fundraisers benefit communities, celebrate new, remodeledstores

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- To mark the grand opening of its newest remodeled convenience store, Cumberland Farms has kicked off a month-long fundraiser that will benefit the students of Brookfield (Mass.) Elementary School. The fundraiser follows similar recent store-opening promotions to benefit the William E. Norris School in Southampton, Mass., and Framingham (Mass.) High School in its hometown.

For the next month, Cumberland Farms will donate 20 cents from every Chill Zone beverage and cup of coffee sold at its new Brookfield store to the current fifth-grade class. All [image-nocss] proceeds will support a class trip to Camp Bournedale, which students take in sixth grade.

Cumberland Farms hopes to raise at least $1,000 for the class trip.

"With so many tight budgets these days, the costs of school trips can seem overwhelming to families," said Principal Kathleen Hosterman. "This donation will help lesson those burdens, and encourage our students to keep learning. We're grateful to Cumberland Farms for this generous donation, and thank them for their support."

"This fundraiser is our way of thanking the Brookfield families who patronize our stores," said Ari Haseotes, president of Cumberland Farms Retail Division. "It's our pleasure to give something back to them, and help these kids take new adventures, and broaden their minds."

Also for the next month, Cumberland Farms will donate 20 cents from every Chill Zone beverage and cup of coffee sold at its new store in Southampton. All proceeds will go toward purchasing new gym equipment for the school, which includes a new rock wall for students.

"With budget cuts surrounding so many schools, it's difficult to provide students with new equipment they need to help keep their bodies strong, fit and healthy," said PTO Co-Chairperson Luci Dalton. "We're very grateful to Cumberland Farms for this generous donation and we thank them for their support."

The company hopes to raise at least $1,000 for the new equipment, it said.

"This fundraiser is our way of saying thank you to the people of Southampton who patronize our stores, and to help keep the students of William E. Norris School moving," said Haseotes. "It is our pleasure to give something back to them, and help keep our children strong."

And for the next month, Cumberland Farms will donate 20 cents from every Chill Zone beverage and cup of coffee sold at its new Framingham store. All proceeds will directly support the school's PSAT Preparation program, which provides every Framingham High sophomore and junior with an SAT practice test.

"We do what we can to help our busy students excel and reach their full potential. Administering the PSAT exam to sophomores and juniors helps them prepare for the SATs that are so critical for college applications," said FHS Principal Mike Welch. "We are grateful to Cumberland Farms for this generous donation and thank them for their support."

Cumberland Farms, which has its corporate offices in Framingham, hopes to raise at least $1,000 for the program.

"This fundraiser is our way of saying thank you to the people of our home town, and help local students prepare for college," Haseotes said. "It is our pleasure to give back, and help keep kids' minds strong."

So far this year, Cumberland Farms has donated more than $10,000 to support local schools in communities where we live and work, it said.

Cumberland Farms operates a network of convenience stores across 11 states.
