Cumberland Farms Opens Biddeford, Maine, Store

Fundraiser benefited local high school

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Cumberland Farms recently celebrated the grand opening of a convenience store in Biddeford, Maine, with a fundraiser to support the students at Biddeford High School. The company donated 20 cents from every ChillZone beverage and cup of coffee sold at the new store. Cumberland Farms said it intended to raise at least $1,000 for the general activity fund.

"We are grateful for the support of Cumberland Farms," said Biddeford High School Principal Britton Wolfe. "Our students deserve to learn in the best environment we can give them. The monies raised will [image-nocss] help pay for field trips, motivational speakers and enrichment experiences for needy students among other activities."

The new Cumberland Farms store features a variety of sandwiches that can be toasted on site, chocolate milkshakes, flatbread breakfast sandwiches and personal pepperoni pizzas; the new menu is focused on fresh food, and is steeped in the company's farm-family heritage, Cumberland Farms said. Customers can be their own baristas at the coffee bar, stocked with the retailer's new Farmhouse Blend, or opt for a cold beverage at the trademark ChillZone.

"We look forward to making life a little bit easier for the high school, and the entire city of Biddeford," said Ari Haseotes, president of Cumberland Farms Retail Division. "Our customers will enjoy the convenience of a single stop to fulfill a number of needs, whether that's a sandwich and a cup of coffee, a full gas tank or even a cell phone charger."

The company held a ribbon cutting and kick off the school fundraiser on January 27 at the new store, attended by Cumberland Farms employees and Biddeford High School staff and students.

Framingham, Mass.-based Cumberland Farms' network of retail stores, gas stations and a support system including petroleum and grocery distribution operations spans 11 states across the Northeast and Florida, making it the largest convenience store and petroleum marketer in the Northeast. Its affiliate, Gulf Oil LP, distributes motor fuels through a network of more than 1,800 Gulf-branded stations, 12 proprietary oil terminals and a network of more than 50 other supply terminals. It supplies heating oil, diesel fuel, jet fuel and kerosene to these branded retail outlets through both its Gulf brand and, in the seven states of New England and New York, the Exxon brand.
