Enmark Embarks on Fresh-Food Initiative

Enlists FreshOne to create new "grab-and-go suite" of products

SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Enmark Stations Inc. has announced that 37 of its Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina convenience stores have launched a custom fresh-food program to meet the growing consumer demand for healthier, fresher food options.

All trends point towards fresher, greener, faster and better-for-you snacks and meals for all parts of the day. Enmark said it understands this and has made a big investment to give loyal customers a new option.

"Enmark has always had an interest in making our communities healthier," said Matt Clements, director of marketing at Enmark Stations. "In order to take our healthy and fresh options to the next level, we sought out a company who had a successful track record of safely producing, reliably delivering and profitably managing fresh-food programs for large retailers. FreshOne was an easy choice. They embraced our desire to be a top-of-mind foodservice destination in the communities Enmark serves and helped us organize this vision."

As a nationwide custom consolidated logistics provider and fresh-food program producer, FreshOne has partnered with Enmark to help guide the new grab-and-go suite of custom products, which includes premium items such as a Gorgonzola Steak Baguette, Chipotle Chicken Wrap, Canadian Bacon, Egg White & Cheese Pretzel on Flatbread and numerous cut and whole-fruit options.

"Enmark is doing fresh right. They really care about giving their customers truly fresh, tasty and affordable food options," said Don Janacek, president of FreshOne.

Last September, Enmark announced that 25 of its larger-format stores now carry United Natural Foods Inc. (UNFI) products in an effort to offer customers healthy snacking options. UNFI is the leading independent national distributor of natural, organic and specialty foods and related products including nutritional supplements, personal care items and organic produce.

"We've organized the Encourage Health lecture series, and we have a history of working with our suppliers to carry their healthier product options," said Clements, "Over 50% of Americans snack three or more times per day. Why not make it easier for them to make a healthy choice when they snack?"

With more than 60 locations across three states, Enmark's mission is "to be the best service stations and convenience stores, from the customer's perspective, in all the markets in which we operate," it said.

Dallas-based FreshOne provides custom-designed fresh-food programs to grocery, drug and convenience-store retailers nationwide, providing direct-to-store and warehouse delivery of prepackaged items.

Founded as Interstate Stations in 1963 by Robert Demere, Enmark Stations is a family-run business committed to offering its customers top-notch service and superior products. Today the Savannah, Ga.-based company operates 64 stores in Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina that offer high-quality and competitively priced gasoline, food and beverages, lottery services and more. Enmark's gasoline is filtered through a trademarked Double Filtered System, resulting in gasoline and diesel that is clean and 100% water-free. Enmark customers can save up to 10 cents per gallon by using an Enmark Cash Card, a reloadable stored-value card that can be used directly at the pump.
