Executive Decision

Sheetz promotes Lorenz, Ryan

ALTOONA, Pa. -- Sheetz Inc. has promoted two long-time executives to the level of executive vice president. Mike Lorenz, vice president of petroleum supply, is now the executive vice president of petroleum supply, while Ray Ryan, vice president of distribution services, has been promoted to executive vice president of distribution and Sheetz Bros. Kitchen. The promotions took effect on October 1.

With this advancement, Lorenz and Ryan join the Sheetz Executive Committee, which sets all strategic goals for the company and leads all corporate departments [image-nocss] that support store operations.

"It gives me tremendous pleasure to see Mike and Ray advance to the next level here at Sheetz," said Stan Sheetz, president and CEO. "A large part of our company's success can be directly attributed to their hard work and leadership."

Lorenz joined Sheetz in 2000 as the vice president of petroleum supply and has remained in that position since. He is responsible for purchasing all petroleum products, which total more than one billion gallons each year.

Prior to working for Sheetz, Lorenz spent 22 years at ExxonMobil Corp. as a senior U.S. product trader.

Ryan has been with Sheetz since 1977. In his 30 years with the company he has worked as a store manager, district manager, loss prevention coordinator and also spent several years in marketing and foodservice. He was integral during the development of the Sheetz Distribution Center and thus took the role of vice president in 2001.

He will also oversee all operations of the new Sheetz Bros. Kitchen, a 140,000 square-foot centralized kitchen where food products will be made fresh and shipped daily to all 339 Sheetz locations. Sheetz Bros. Kitchen is expected to be operational in Fall 2008.

"Sheetz Bros. Kitchen is a project we all are excited about here at Sheetz," added Stan Sheetz. "We are confident that Ray will provide the perfect leadership for our goals with this new facility."

Altoona, Pa.-based Sheetz operates convenience stores throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio and North Carolina. It provides a menu of Made-to-Order subs, sandwiches and salads, which are ordered through touchscreen terminals.
