Fans Cry Foul Over $6 Footlong
Subway on receiving end of social media firestorm after price hike
MILFORD, Conn. -- Big-sandwich lovers aren’t happy about the loss of Subway’s $5 Footlong promotion, according to a Restaurant Business report.
As previously reported in CSP Daily News, the quick-service restaurant (QSR) chain pulled the plug on the eight-year-old promotion this month, raising the price to $6 and spinning it with a new marketing campaign.
Customers are letting the chain know how they feel about the news through some hair-curling posts on social media, RB reported. It may not be the “Sub-mageddon” that the sandwich chain had envisioned when it announced a hike to $6 for the sandwich earlier this week.
Many fans pointed fingers, altogether inaccurate fingers, at disgraced former pitchman Jared Fogle, who had absolutely nothing to do with the decision.
