7-Eleven opening commissary and distribution center this month in New York
BOHEMIA, N.Y. -- 7-Eleven Inc. is opening a "state-of-the-art, environmentally in-tune" Fresh Foods Commissary & Combined Distribution Center (CDC) in Bohemia, Long Island, N.Y., which will prepare and deliver fresh foods to 674 of the company's 7-Eleven stores in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. A launch celebration will be held on January 28.

The opening of the new commissary and distribution center follows on Dallas-based 7-Eleven's recent announcement that it will be expanding its foodservice offering.

The massive 130,000-square-foot facility operated [image-nocss] by Bohemia-based Norris Food Services and under strict Department of Homeland Security and Department of Agriculture food standards, incorporates both a distribution center and commissary and employs more than 250 Long Islanders who make a variety of fresh foods every day for the retailer.

Among the executives attending the launch celebration will be Joseph DePinto, CEO of 7-Eleven; William Norris, CEO of Norris Food Services; Michael J. Norris, president of Norris Food Services; and Joseph G. Chiovera, senior fresh foods director for 7-Eleven.

7-Eleven operates, franchises or licenses approximately 7,600 7-Eleven stores in North America.
