HMSHost Adds Restaurant to Pa. Travel Plaza

Roy Rogers adds new fast-food option

SOMERSET, Pa. -- The North Somerset Travel Plaza in Somerset, Pa., has added a Roy Rogers restaurant as part of its foodservice offer.

The Roy Rogers was opened by HMSHost Corp., the developer and operator of multiple travel plazas on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The restaurant is serving travelers along the busy Pennsylvania Turnpike, which sees more than 500,000 travelers daily, according to the company.

The restaurant is the 48th unit in the Roy Rogers chain, which now operates in nine states.

"Over the past 40 years, HMSHost has successfully operated Roy [image-nocss] Rogers restaurants on some of the nation's busiest interstates," stated Jim Plamondon, co-president of the Plamondon Cos., which owns and operates Roy Rogers corporate and franchise restaurant locations.

"Roy Rogers is one of the restaurants motorists tell us they love to find in our travel plazas," said Michael Jones, vice president, business development for HMSHost. "We are pleased to make the Pennsylvania Turnpike traveler's day better with this trusted brand."

With three new franchised restaurants and two new corporate units scheduled to open in 2011, Roy Rogers is growing quickly. These newest locations come as Roy Rogers has renewed its efforts to sell more franchise locations to qualified candidates.

"The opportunities for growth are extensive, and we are seeking franchise partners to help us expand our brand in markets across the country," said Plamondon.

Based in Frederick, Md., the Plamondon Cos. owns and operates Roy Rogers corporate and franchise restaurant locations in nine states and six hotel properties in Frederick and Hagerstown,
Md.

Based in Bethesda, Md., HMSHost is a leader in creating food, beverage and retail concessions for travel venues. HMSHost operates in 111 airports around the globe and in 101 travel plazas locations throughout the United States and Canada.
