SOUTH ELGIN, Ill. -- Approximately 7,500 premade sandwiches are being recalled from vending machines and convenience stores in six states, reported the Associated Press.
The plastic-wrapped sandwiches were made and distributed by Imperial Food Service Inc. (IFS), South Elgin, Ill. The company said no illnesses have been reported, but some sandwiches have tested positive for the Listeria bacteria.
The bacteria can cause serious infections in young children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems. Healthy people can [image-nocss] suffer fever, headache, nausea and diarrhea.
The sandwiches are labeled Cuban, Italian Asiago and buffalo chicken, according to AP.
The recall follows last week's recall by Longview, Texas-based CFS Operating Ltd. of about 4,200 Cloud's Tuna Salad Sandwiches and Egg Salad Sandwiches from c-stores in Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas because of possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
