PENNSAUKEN, N.J. -- J & J Snack Foods Corp. has announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire the frozen handheld business of ConAgra Foods. The business sells dough-enrobed products sold under the Patio, Hand Fulls, Holly Ridge Bakery, Villa Taliano, Top Picks and private-label brands with manufacturing facilities in Holly Ridge, N.C., and Weston, Ore.
This acquisition provides J & J Snack Foods with ample flexibility to meet changing consumer needs. The two U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)-approved manufacturing facilities offer a variety of [image-nocss] enrobed products from sweet to savory, healthy or indulgent, as well as individual retail or bulk foodservice packs.
"We are excited about this opportunity," said Gerald B. Shreiber, president and chief executive officer of Pennsauken, N.J.-based J & J Snack Foods. "This is a fine line of products that will expand our portfolio of brands to existing and new venues."
Closing of the transaction is expected to be in May 2011, the company said.
