Java Ridge Comes to Kum & Go

Retailer launches new coffee line

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- Kum & Go LC has introduced a new premium coffee line this month at its more than 450 convenience stores. Its tagline is Taste the Difference."

The launch of Java Ridge Premium Coffee is the culmination of an 18-month search by Kum & Go, the company said, for the best-tasting and highest-quality coffee it could find. Company officials visited roasters across the continent for a coffee that would satisfy people's increasingly sophisticated tastes.

Java Ridge is made from 100% premium Arabica beans [image-nocss] that are mountain-grown in the world's premier coffee regions and roasted to perfection, the company added.

We're very excited about being able to provide customers a better-quality coffee for the same price. We know that coffee is an important part of many of our customers' daily routines, and that's why we searched for the best-tasting coffee beans to start their day off right, said Greg Tornberg, vice president of fresh foods for Kum & Go.

The Java Ridge line includes a variety of coffees and cappuccinos, including 100% Colombian caffeinated and decaffeinated, dark roast and house blend coffees. In addition, customers can purchase 12-oz. bags of ground coffee at stores for home brewing or to give as gifts.

Java Ridge's 100% Colombian blend has the Juan Valdez logo, which certifies the product to be current crop Excelso and above grade green coffee from Colombia. This coffee has a medium body and is available in both regular and decaffeinated.

The Java Ridge house blend is a smooth premium blend of three Central and South American mild coffees to a medium color, resulting in a rich flavorful cup profile. The Java Ridge dark roast uses this same blend, but it is roasted darker to bring out the smoky, nonburnt flavor in the cup. Coffee drinkers will note the clean finish and nonbitter aftertaste, said the retailer.

Kum & Go's Java Ridge coffees are custom roasted to special specifications by Mother Parkers Tea & Coffee Inc. The coffee is roasted and packaged at a facility in Dallas, where Mother Parkers combines technology and new-product innovation to produce the coffees for its retail clients.

West Des Moines, Iowa-based Kum & Go operates more than 445 stores in 13 states (Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Colorado, Arkansas, Wyoming and Wisconsin).
