Landshire Roles Out 'First Street Cafe' Sandwich Line

Longer-shelf-life products made with artisan baguettes, natural cheeses

ST. LOUIS -- Landshire Inc. is introducing a new product line: First Street Cafe. This sandwich line has the product appeal of a cafe sandwich yet can be found at a nearby convenience store. The First Street Cafe line of sandwiches are visually appealing, made with artisan baguettes and multi-grain fresh breads, premium sliced meats, salads and natural cheeses, all layered by hand and then wrapped in a clear deli film for a "just made" look and taste.

Landshire developed the First Street Cafe line after researching the needs of the c-store industry, it said.

"Our [image-nocss] customers have a need for a fresh sandwich that does not expire within two to three days," said Joseph Trover, owner and CEO of Landshire. "Our products have a similar look, feel and taste to the shorter shelf-life products, but can maintain a seven-day shelf life."

According to Trover, "These added days of freshness are vital to the success of a fresh sandwich program in the convenience store industry today."

Landshire begins selling the First Street Cafe line nationally in August 2011.

The First Street Cafe Swiss Club and American Club are made using a multi-grain baguette topped with fresh oats to add visual appeal as well as texture, and flavor. The British Club and Italian Club are made with a Baguette that is topped with shredded Asiago, adding a flavorful crunch to this delicious sandwich. Landshire Flats, a variation on the traditional wedge sandwich, are wholesome with rolled oat and multi-grain fresh breads. Each sandwich is filled with appetizing, premium quality meats or salads and all natural provolone, Monterey Jack or cheddar cheeses.

This combination of meats, salads and cheeses with upscale bakery-style breads gives the customer the true look and taste of buying from a local cafe.

Founded in 1966, Landshire is a leader in foodservice products. It distributes its products nationally through partnerships with nationwide foodservice suppliers, and offers direct-service delivery (DSD) in 22 states, offering prepackaged sandwiches, hot sandwiches, pastry and roller-grill items.
