More Dough in Rising Business

Hunt Brothers Pizza expands Nashville facility

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Hunt Brothers Pizza LLC, a major distributor of fresh dough pizza to the convenience store market, said that it has begun construction on major expansion of its Nashville, Tenn., warehouse and office facility.

The expansion will provide additional space for product storage as well as added office space for the company's operation. The facility was opened in 2002, but rapid and continued growth in the pizza business has required the expansion, the company said.

The company currently serves more than 5,700 convenience [image-nocss] stores in 26 states, and this expansion will enable the company to double the number of stores it can serve.

Scott Hunt said the expansion is scheduled to be completed late this year.

Hunt Brothers Pizza offers a comprehensive pizza program to its store customers in 26 states. The product line includes the company's original crust pizza, its new thin-crust pizza and a breakfast pizza. All pizzas are delivered weekly and prepared on-site to bake and are sold in either whole pizzas or the company's Hunk a Pizza, which is one-quarter of a whole pizza. All come with Hunt Brothers Pizza's signature promise of All Toppings No Extra Charge.

Hunt Brothers Pizza was established by four brothersCharlie, Lonnie, Jim and Don Huntwho have been in the retail and wholesale pizza business since 1962. In 1990, the Hunt Brothers began distributing their original fresh dough pizza under the Buffet Style Pizza name before changing the name to Hunt Brothers Pizza in 2004. In addition to the pizza and toppings, the company also sells and distributes all the equipment necessary to make the pizza, from their proprietary, Lincoln Impinger conveyor style oven to a compact pizza shoppe with everything a c-store owner needs to get started in the pizza business, it said.

Under the Hunt Brothers Pizza business program, c-stores are provided the pizzas, all the toppings and the equipment at a low cost, enabling them to operate a successful pizza shop. Store employees are then trained to prepare and cook pizza the Hunt Brothers Pizza way. The store is serviced weekly by Hunt Brothers Pizza team members who deliver product in company-owned trucks. In addition to delivery, service includes rotating product, training employees, displaying marketing materials and support in business development.

The stores do not pay franchise fees or royalty fees, and all marketing materials are provided free of charge. This comprehensive, value-added package offers c-store owners and chains a low entry cost, high profit food service opportunity, Hunt said.
