New Leadership at Boyd Coffee Co.

Newman named president, CEO

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Boyd Coffee Co., a family owned and operated purveyor of coffee, tea, food products and coffee brewing equipment nationwide, has appointed Jeffrey Newman as the company's president and chief executive officer as of Jan. 11. David Boyd and Dick Boyd will remain as owners and co-chairmen for Boyd Coffee Co.

"We see this as the ideal time for this historic transition," said David Boyd. "Boyd Coffee Co.'s business is poised for future growth, and this is an excellent opportunity to bring in a new corporate leader with the perspective and experience to continue [image-nocss] preparing the Boyd family's fourth generation to assume future company leadership."

Newman comes to Boyd Coffee Co. with more than 26 years of experience in the foodservice industry, most recently as the COO/vice president and general manager of Columbus Distributing LLC in San Francisco, a family-owned purveyor of foods and distributor of many other specialty and gourmet foods.

Newman has also held senior executive roles with TVG, Clark Foodservice, Rykoff-Sexton and Beecham U.S.A. He has an extensive background in food-industry management, marketing, sales and operations, which includes strategic planning, cross-functional team building and the execution of profit-driven business plans.

"He brings considerable industry experience, a strong ability to work in a family-owned business and an impressive record of team building that delivers strong results"

Boyd Coffee Co., Portland, Ore., has served its customers for more than 100 years and four generations of family management. The company's commitment to be the purveyor of choice inspires its high-touch personal service, including a direct-store-distribution system covering 22 states, equipment innovations, specialty and rare estate coffees, teas and extensive line of food products.

David Boyd and Dick Boyd emphasized that Boyd Coffee Co.'s fourth generation family members, who are on the company's management team, will be mentored by Newman with the goal of leading the 110-year-old company in the future.
