PAJCO Launches Mercato di Rodi

New concept offers 'trifecta' of enhanced convenience options including bistro, market, fuel

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- PAJCO Inc., owner and operator of Rhodes 101 Stop Convenience Stores, has launched Mercato di Rodi, a new store concept, with plans to open two locations. The first store opened in Jackson.

"We did a soft opening in December with a ribbon cutting this week," spokesperson Duane Statler told CSP Daily News.

Another site will begin construction in early 2012 in Cape West Crossings, he said.

This new concept builds on the heritage established by PAJCO as a "liquid leader" in southeast Missouri providing customers with the fluids that fuel their daily lives. Mercato di Rodi will offer a "trifecta" of enhanced convenience options for customers including an express bistro, upscale corner market and new motor fuel site.

PAJCO was the first convenience retailer in the Midwestern United States to offer the Coca-Cola Freestyle fountain concept featuring more than 101 sparkling and still brands (see Related Content below for previous CSP Daily News coverage).

"We pride ourselves on being innovative, and Coca-Cola Freestyle is a brand that reinforces that philosophy. The unique interactive experience truly delivers a 'wow factor' for our guests," he said.

Soupe Express launched as a new division of Cafe Soupe, highlighting the upscale deli. The menu features fresh soup along with an assortment of salads and sandwiches. The menu includes classics from the original Cafe Soupe menu and include some new breakfast additions, packaged carry-out options and quality coffees.

The Market contains the cold packaged beverages including sodas, energy drinks and beer. A beer cave houses "the coldest beer to grace the area," as recognized in the 2011 People's Choice Awards. PrimoVino! presents a selection of quality wines and liquors. Other grocery items are available including milk, bread, chips and snacks.

The motor fuels component of Mercato di Rodi features gasoline products from Rhodes 101. The site is designed with infrastructure that will allow for the addition of new and alternative fuels for vehicles such as electric and natural gas.

The stores will accept Rhodes 101 credit cards.

Cape Girardeau, Mo.-based PAJCO owns several businesses in the southeast Missouri area and is best known for operating Rhodes 101 Stops. Rhodes 101 is a leading convenience-store chain in the region with approximately 30 locations.
