Paula Deen Cooks Up POS Messaging Network

Ads to be featured in grocery, drug and convenience stores

SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Paula Deen Enterprises has branched out to create the new Paula Deen Network, an in-store audio and mobile platform that reaches shoppers throughout the steps of their decision-making process. Paula's signature voice and personality will be featured in 30-second audio spots in 31,000 grocery, drug and convenience stores throughout the United States.

By offering recipes, tips and product information, the shopper will receive compelling reasons to buy the spotlighted product.

Paula's goal throughout the formation of this new company was to develop a way to better serve the busy mom whose time and wallet is already taxed, the company said.

"Just as Paula Deen has created exceptional meals, she has now found the perfect recipe for developing personal relationships with shoppers. By combining experts in digital media, sales, and programming along with her trademark voice, she will revolutionize how in-store point-of-sale messaging motivates the shopper," it said.

"It's important to me that everyone is a winner on my network," said Deen. "We want the finest brands to advertise on our network and to offer savings to our shoppers. In return we'll provide you with an affordable customized ad which includes tips, recipes and advertising spots that are top notch."

She added, "Through text messaging, we will tell shoppers about those products and values in their local store. The advertisers, retailers and consumers all benefit. Soon we will introduce a phone app that our customers will treasure. It will have recipes, tips, shopping lists and links to our brands sites, all answering the question, "What's for dinner?"

The service is positioned to function with other media, or on its own. "If a brand is currently running radio, print or television, why not take it all the way and talk to their customers through mobile applications while they are frantically circling the store looking for the best bargain or the most popular product? If traditional media isn't in your budget, we offer a great standalone service."

A percentage of all ad dollars spent on the Paula Deen Network will be donated to our food banks, the company said.

Cook, restaurateur and TV personality Paula Deen is host of Paula's Home Cooking on the Food Network.
