QT Buys Distribution Center

Facility will serve 85 QuikTrip c-stores, with more in pipeline
TULSA, Okla. -- QuikTrip Corp., the parent company of Quik N Tasty Foods Inc., is buying a 316,000-square-foot distribution building in Midlothian, Texas, according to a report by The Dallas Business Journal.

Quik'n Tasty Foods is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tulsa, Okla.-based QuikTrip. It is the exclusive distribution center and manufacturing facility for QuikTrip stores. More than 70% of the products sold in QuikTrip stores were shipped through the Quik'n Tasty warehouse.

Ellis County Commissioners have approved a tax abatement agreement to attract the [image-nocss] privately owned company, the report said.

The distribution center, which formerly was occupied by Kehe Foods, will serve the 85 regional QuikTrip convenience stores now in operation and another 15 stores that the company expects to add over the next three years, the newspaper said.

The warehouse is expected to employ about 50 people, added the report.

In last 2009, the company unveiled plans for a new, bigger store design that will be about 20% larger than existing outlets and will feature a wider selection of prepared foods.

Tulsa, Okla.-based QuikTrip operates more than 550 convenience stores located in nine states. QuikTrip's major markets are Atlanta; Dallas-Fort Worth; Kansas City; St. Louis; Tulsa; Des Moines, Iowa; Omaha, Neb.; and Phoenix. It also recently entered the Tucson, Ariz., market.
