ATLANTA -- Convenience-store chain RaceTrac has unveiled the results of a study that shows its customers’ purchasing patterns in the morning. Based on averages of sales metrics gathered between Feb. 29 and Oct. 1, 2016, the study reveals what RaceTrac patrons are buying for breakfast, and when they are buying it.
Here are the surprising results ...
RaceTrac found that its “TracFanatics” purchase a wide assortment of items during early morning hours. Its top-selling offerings between 5 and 10 a.m. are not conventional breakfast fare.
RaceTrac's study shows that its customers are most likely to purchase hot dogs in the morning. In fact, three in five guests chooses RaceTrac’s hot dogs over doughnuts in the morning rush.
Other popular morning purchases are: fountain drinks (26%), energy drinks (14%) and bags of ice (more than 30,000 pounds purchased during the study period).
Customers ate 588 miles worth of roller-grill items during the eight-month period ...
The data also showed unique findings of preferred breakfast items in individual states of operation.
