New stores for Kum & Go, RaceTrac, Rutter's

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- Kum & Go LLC celebrated the grand openings of c-stores in Omaha, Neb. (pictured), and Tiffin, Iowa, over the weekend. The Omaha event featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, free fountain drinks, live music, a radio remote, registration to win free gasoline for a year and chances to win music festival tickets.

West Des Moines, Iowa-based Kum & Go. has more than 400 convenience stores in 11 [image-nocss] states (Iowa, Arkansas, Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wyoming).

Separately, RaceTrac held a grand opening event for a new c-store in Plano, Texas. It also announced that a store in Garland, Texas, will be opening soon.

Atlanta-based RaceTrac operates more than 525 retail gasoline c-stores in 12 southeastern states.

Meanwhile, Rutter's Farm Stores has broken ground for a 5,150-square-foot convenience store in Monroe Township, Cumberland County, Pa. The 24-hour store will create 35 to 40 permanent jobs when it opens this summer. It will be Rutter's third store in Cumberland County, all opened since 2006.

"It's a growing area, and Rutter's is excited to be growing along with Cumberland County," said Scott Hartman, president and CEO of Rutter's Farm Stores. "We look forward to welcoming customers through the doors of our newest store."

The store will incorporate a variety of eco-friendly attributes, including energy-saving skylights, triple-glazed windows, LED exterior lights, a white reflective roof, and an energy and climate control management system. Outside, the store will offer a recycling bin for bottles, cans and newspapers and a bike rack.

The store will offer fresh-food menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner, touchscreen ordering, a premium-coffee island, seating, and a surcharge-free M&T Bank ATM.

The store's design will include open ceilings, floor and wall tiles, and touchfree restrooms with floating ceilings, music and other upscale accents.

Outside, two canopies will cover 16 fueling positions for gasoline, diesel and kerosene.

York, Pa.-based Rutter's Farm Stores operates 55 c-stores in York, Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin and Lancaster counties in Pennsylvania.
