YORK, Pa. -- In anticipation of the Lenten season, convenience store retailer Rutter's Farm Stores has added another seafood option to the menu--crab cake sliders.
The Maryland-style crab cakes are fried and can be ordered in quantities of one, three, six or 12. Each crab cake order can also be mixed and matched with the other options available, chicken, meatball and burger sliders.
Customers can top the sliders with cheddar cheese, tartar sauce and Old Bay seasoning.
The chain also offers Maple Donuts at select locations, and according to a Facebook post, featured the "Fastnachts" on March 4, Fastnacht Day, the annual Pennsylvania Dutch celebration that falls on Shrove Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday.
In other foodservice news, Rutter's also has added soft pretzel bites to the menu as a new snack option. The pretzel bites come 10 to an order and the customer can add salt, garlic, cinnamon sugar and old bay seasonings. Marinara sauce, nacho cheese and nutella are also available for dipping.
York, Pa.-based Rutter's has been active in the community since its beginning in 1921. Under the third generation of family leadership, Rutter's operates 59 convenience stores throughout central Pennsylvania.
