Leedy, Matthews promoted; other appointments announced

YORK, Pa. -- Rutter's Farms Stores has officially announced that Jeffrey Leedy has been promoted to the new position of senior vice president and chief customer officer, with responsibility for new customer initiatives.

He will continue to direct the day-to-day activities of the marketing department, including merchandising, pricing and fleet fueling. Leedy, who has been with Rutter's since 1998, had been vice president of marketing.

Also, Jere Matthews has been promoted to vice president of operations, including responsibility [image-nocss] for foodservice and food safety. A 29-year Rutter's employee, he had been director of operations. Jerry Weiner has returned to Rutter's as vice president of foodservice, a position he held from 1997 to 2005. Most recently, he was director of foodservice for MAPCO, Nashville, Tenn. And Robert Perkins has joined Rutter's as director of marketing. Most recently he was with Impact 21 Group, an independent consulting firm. Before that, he spent six years with Irving Oil Corp., capping his tenure as director of marketing.

CSP Daily News reported on the promotions and appointments in mid-September. Rutter's also announced several additional new appointments.

Robin Nace has been promoted to operations supervisor after most recently serving as store manager in Shrewsbury, Pa. Nace was Rutter's 2005 store manager of the year.

Donna Umstead has been promoted to director of training after most recently serving as personnel supervisor.

Bev Koller has been promoted to personnel supervisor after most recently serving as store manager in York. Koller was Rutter's 2006 store manager of the year.

And Liz Day has been promoted to foodservice quality assurance supervisor, effective in January, after most recently serving as deli manager in East Berlin, Pa. Day was Rutter's 2004 deli manager of the year.

Family-owned and third-generation managed, York, Pa.-based Rutter's operates 51 convenience stores in York, Adams, Cumberland, Franklin and Lancaster counties, as well as a dairy and other businesses.
