Sandwich Restaurant Chain Expands Into Convenience Stores

San Francisco Style Sourdough Eatery maps out national growth plans

COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho -- San Francisco Style Sourdough Eatery, an emerging limited-service sandwich franchise, is targeting convenience stores on its path to nationwide expansion. The Idaho-based chain plans to launch up to 100 locations across the country over the next five years.

SFSE Franchising has developed a program to attract multiple-unit franchisees, c-store operators and first-time business owners to the brand. To facilitate the new openings, SFSE Franchising is opening a new office in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to support the chain’s national expansion. Arizona, California and Washington have been named as “prime markets” for the next stage of growth for the chain.

SFSE Franchising is offering franchising opportunities for both kiosk units and area development. The chain recently opened two c-store-based locations—a unit inside Lancaster Market in Hayden, Idaho, and a location inside Half Sun Travel Plaza in Moses Lake, Wash. The company also announced a new 14-unit area development deal for new stores in California.

“We’re experiencing the strongest growth in our company’s history and this is due in part to our growth with c-stores and travel plazas,” said Tom McKoy, chief financial officer of San Francisco Style Sourdough Eatery. “Our commitment to enter and expand in these markets will be supported with our new franchise office in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. We will double the size of our franchise network this year, and our efforts in these target markets will be instrumental to that success.”

San Francisco Style Sourdough Eatery specializes in signature sandwiches, assorted subs, freshly made salads and hot soups. The company currently operates a total of 10 stores in Idaho, Utah and Washington.
