Sheetz Keeps Growing in Tar Heel State

Retailer opens second location in Rocky Mount, N.C.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- Sheetz Inc. opened a second new store in Rocky Mount, N.C., yesterday. Its first location there opened in mid-June. The Altoona, Pa.-based company now operates 27 stores in the Tar Heel State.

"North Carolina is still emerging for us and people there are getting excited about visiting our stores," said Stan Sheetz, president and CEO.

The new store will offer the same fresh-food items like the MTGo! and Shweetz Bakery lines of sandwiches, wraps, donuts and muffins, along with the signature MTO line of Angus beef burgers, premium grilled chicken [image-nocss] sandwiches, freshly made salads, French fries, onion rings and more.

Sheetz Bros. Coffeez, a full-service espresso and smoothie bar staffed by a trained barista is also available at the new store. Customers can order hand-made specialty coffee drinks including lattes, cappuccinos and mochashot, frozen or iced.

"We have developed fun, new ways to show our devotion to our customers," Stan Sheetz said. "We think we've struck a chord with our food and beverages and a loyalty program that have people coming back for more every day."

Sheetz is also proud of its history of giving back to the communities in which it operates, and it has been a proud supporter of Special Olympics since 1992, making monetary and product contributions as well as providing event volunteers. In keeping with this tradition, the company made a donation to Special Olympics North Carolina as part of the store opening celebration yesterday.

Established in 1952, Sheetz is one of America's fastest growing family-owned and operated convenience store chains, with more than $3.7 billion in revenue for 2009 and more than 13,000 employees.

Sheetz provides an award-winning menu of MTO subs, sandwiches and salads, which are ordered through unique touch-screen order point terminals. All Sheetz convenience stores are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The company operates more than 360 convenience locations throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio and North Carolina.
