Starbucks Targets Lunchtime

Bistro Boxes focus on convenience, nutrition
SEATTLE -- Starbucks is targeting on-the-go consumers with its new Bistro Boxes food program currently being introduced in its cafes across the country.

Starbucks Bistro Boxes are a full selection of eight wholesome snack- and entr ae-size portions in a convenient grab-and-go packaging, according to the company. The clear, compartmentalized packaging makes it easy to see the freshly prepared ingredients, while the resealable cover helps to maintain freshness.

The Bistro Boxes, most under 500 calories, are available in snack size ($4.95) and entr ae size ($6.95).

"[image-nocss] We continue to hear from customers that they want more variety for nutritious grab-and-go food," said Annie Young-Scrivner, global chief marketing officer, Starbucks Coffee Co., Seattle. "Having products that contain lean protein, wholesome whole grains, fresh fruit and vegetables are important to our customers and focus on increasing store traffic during lunch. In fact, food sales have continued to grow over the past year and is additive to our coffee business."

In addition to customer favorites, Chicken & Hummus, Protein and Cheese & Fruit, Starbucks is expanding the line with new Starbucks Bistro Box options: Chipotle Chicken Wraps, Sesame Noodles, Chicken Lettuce Wraps and Salumi & Cheese.
