Stewart's Sticks With Health

Adding "Eat Healthy Today" stickers to select food items as part of hospital's initiative

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. -- Stewart's Shops has partnered with the Glens Falls Hospital's Creating Healthy Places to Live, Work & Play program to provide customers with easy identification of healthy food choices at their stores. In a program that began in mid-July, select food items in four Stewart's locations in Warren and Washington counties in New York will bear "Eat Healthy Today" stickers.

The participating convenience stores are located in West Glen Falls, Queensbury, Salem and Whitehall, N.Y.

"We are committed to providing customers with a variety of flavors [image-nocss] including high-quality, convenient and healthy food options," said Tom Mailey, marketing manager with Stewart's. "The average Stewart's customer arrives, shops and departs our shops in just a few minutes. We believe the 'Eat Healthy Today' stickers will provide a quick, recognizable image to assist customers who are looking for healthful options."

Kathy Varney, a program coordinator at the Glens Falls Hospital Health Promotion Center, said that the Creating Healthy Places to Live, Work &d Play initiative is a New York State Department of Health funded program promoting enhanced physical activity and healthy food opportunities through local policy and environmental changes.

Glens Falls Hospital, founded in 1897, is a not-for-profit, community hospital serving a six-county region of northeastern New York.

Stewart's Shops is an employee- and family-owned c-store chain based in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. It is known for milk, ice cream, coffee, food to go, gasoline and more. There are 328 Stewart's Shops located in more than 30 counties across upstate New York and southern Vermont.
