Tedeschi Food Shops Adds Execs

New joins as CIO; Reardon retires from HR

ROCKLAND, Mass. -- Douglas New has joined Tedeschi Food Shops as the company's first Chief Information Officer. The creation of this new position is a direct reflection of the company's continuing commitment to leveraging technology for competitive advantage and corporate agility, it said.

The company also just revamped its website. (Click here for previous CSP Daily News coverage.)

Prior to joining Tedeschi, New worked at Putnam Investments for 11 years in multiple roles related to technology engineering and operations, most recently as senior vice president and director of site operations.

Also, the company's senior vice president of human resources, Allen Reardon, will be retiring at the end of August. Reardon joined Angelo's Supermarket 34 years ago as personnel manager. In 1986, Allen was promoted to vice president of human resources at Tedeschi Food Shops, and he currently holds the title of senior vice president of human resources.

"Allen will be greatly missed by all that were fortunate enough to have worked with him, but his contributions to our company and employees will benefit us for many years to come," said Peter Tedeschi, the company's president and CEO.

The company said that the opening created by Allen's retirement will be filled by the promotion of Greg Donoghue to the position of vice president of human resources. Donoghue previously served as the company's general counsel and his familiarity with the company and its employees in conjunction with his extensive background in employment law made him the ideal choice to replace Allen. Prior to joining Tedeschi, he served as a law clerk to the Justices of the Superior Court of Massachusetts and as an associate at Preti-Faherty.

And Glenn Leger has joined Tedeschi, replacing Greg Donoghue as its general counsel.

Established in 1923 in Rockland, Mass., where it is still based, Tedeschi Food Shops is one of New England's most trusted family-owned and operated convenience store chains, with more than $600 million in annual revenue and more than 2,000 employees. The company operates 189 c-store locations throughout Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Connecticut. Tedeschi Food Shops provides its customers with a family of quality proprietary brands: TD's Deli and TD's Express, Tedeschi Select and Tedeschi Fuel.
