Tedeschi Taps Coca-Cola Freestyle

Adds multi-flavor soda fountain units in 10 stores

ROCKLAND, Mass. -- Tedeschi Food Shops Inc. is rolling out Coca-Cola Freestyle fountain units in 10 locations, the company announced on Facebook. The machines will be up and running by July 28, it said.

"We're excited to introduce brand new Coke Freestyle machines in ten of your neighborhood Tedeschi's! This cool touch screen make-your-own-soda machine features over 100 mix & match flavors that allow you to kick up your Coke or create a crazy concoction full of any flavors your heart desires," said the retailer.

The stores are in Taunton, Hanover, Quincy (2), Dorchester, Revere, Allston, Boston, Medford and Milford.

Launched in 2009, Coca-Cola Freestyle is the brand name for the fountain dispenser developed by Atlanta-based Coca-Cola Co. that uses microdosing technology to dispense more than 100 sparkling and still beverage brands from a single freestanding unit. The new unit has approximately the same footprint as current six-or eight-valve dispensers.

The first in a family of new dispensers, Coca-Cola Freestyle creates branded beverages by blending concentrated ingredients with water and sweetener at the point where the beverage is dispensed via proprietary PurePour Technology. It does not use syrup, but instead uses concentrated ingredients stored in cartridges in the dispenser cabinet.

Coca-Cola Freestyle allows people to choose from possibilities, many never before marketed in the United States, including brands such as caffeine-free Diet Coke with Lime, Fanta Peach, Minute Maid Light Orange Lemonade and more.

It is currently installed in more than 3,000 locations, mostly in restaurants, according to the Coca-Cola Freestyle website. Several convenience store chains are using the units, including Daily's in Florida and PAJCO's Rhodes 101 Stop and Mercato di Rodi stores in Missouri (see Related Content below for previous CSP Daily News coverage).

In other company news, as a sponsor of the 2012 Boston Cannons lacrosse team, Tedeschi Food Shops is offering fans the chance to win a practice session with the team and a meet-and-greet with star Paul Rabil. One grand prize winner will be drawn to attend an Aug. 3, 2012, practice with the Boston Cannons and Paul Rabil. The sweepstakes will be closed on July 28, 2012 and the winner will be notified subsequently.

In addition to this sweepstakes, Tedeschi Food Shops is also hosting an autograph session with Paul Rabil on Friday, July 27 in the Boston area.
