Tomlinson Industries Former President Passes Away

Chernak was active in foodservice equipment association

CLEVELAND -- John A. Chernak, former president of Tomlinson Industries, passed away on Jan. 22, 2008.

Chernak joined Tomlinson Industries—a Cleveland-based manufacturer of beverage/liquid dispensing and commercial foodservice equipment—in 1957. He became president of Tomlinson in 1966 and continued in that capacity through 1994. In 1995, he became chairman and was a senior special advisor from 1996 until his retirement in December 2003.

Since 1967, Chernak had been active in the North American Association of Food Equipment Manufacturers (NAFEM) as a board member from 1987[image-nocss] -1996, treasurer in 1990-1991, vice president in 1992 and in l993 served as NAFEM president. He was a certified foodservice professional and during his career he received a variety of awards for various activities related to the commercial foodservice equipment field. He received the William W. Carpenter Award in 2001.

In addition to his wife, Arlene, Chernak also leaves behind four daughters and six grandchildren.
