Wawa Launches 100% Columbian Coffee Chain Wide

Also sponsors stair climb for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

WAWA, Pa. -- Wawa, Inc. has added 100% Columbian coffee to its coffee offering. This coffee is widely hailed for its rich, medium body and creamy flavor, and is made from Arabica beans, grown and cultivated in the Columbian Mountains, the company said. Beginning the week of Feb. 11, 2008, 100% Columbian coffee became available in all of Wawa's 570 stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia.

To celebrate the introduction of the new flavor, beginning Monday, February 25, all Wawa stores will feature Columbian-themed decorations, including burlap bean bags and colorful [image-nocss] serapes hung from coffee icons in the stores. Additionally, associates will be wearing special promotional t-shirts, with the campaign theme, "no passport required—100% Columbian" proudly displayed on the front and back of the shirts.

The 100% Columbian coffee varietal joins Wawa's coffee lineup, which includes its proprietary Regular, Decaf, Varietals (Kona, 100% Columbian), Vanilla Cream, Chocolate Macadamia, Hazelnut, Decaf Hazelnut, Chocolate Carmel and dark roast. The Wawa hot beverage line also includes hot specialty beverages including lattes and cappuccino.

In other company news, Wawa, Pa.-based Wawa announced that it will sponsor the 21st annual Wawa Stair Climb to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF), a nonprofit donor-supported organization that seeks to cure and control cystic fibrosis and improve the quality of life for those living with the disease.

Wawa's annual stair climb challenges participants to climb 1,019 stairs to the top of Philadelphia's Mellon Bank Center in an effort to support the mission of the CFF.

The stair climb challenge will take place Sunday, February 24. Dozens of Wawa associates will join local officials and hundreds of participants to climb for a cure on all 53 floors of the Mellon Bank Center. After eating a hearty breakfast provided courtesy of Wawa, climbers will chose to take part in one of four events: individual racer (timed race), five-person team (judged by the cumulative time of the teammates), endurance climbers (judged by the number of times climbers can climb in one hour) and fun run (not-timed race).

In addition to being a sponsor of the climb for over two decades, throughout the month of February and early March, Wawa's hot cup sleeves will feature a message encouraging people to find a way to get involved and help the CFF in their mission to find a cure through events like the upcoming Stair Climb, the Great Strides Walk, CureFinds, dances, gala events and sporting tournaments.

Wawa operates more than 560 stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.
