NORWELL, Mass. -- In separate deals, two White Hen Pantry Inc. and three Tedeschi Food Shops Inc. stores have recently selected Hardy Flower Co. Inc. to provide flower programs.
The two White Hen stores, on Cape Cod, are located in downtown Hyannis and East Harwich, Mass.
The Tedeschi stores are located in Marshfield, East Wareham and Mattapoisett, Mass.
In July, Hardy Flower and Bay State Farm Direct Flowers announced a partnership to service the floral category at c-stores. Bay State Farm Direct Flowers [image-nocss] is an importer and distributor of floral products in the northeastern United States.
By combining the Hardy Flowers program with the fulfillment and distribution resources of Bay State Farm Direct Growers, c-stores now have the opportunity to successfully enter the floral business without the risks and complexity previously associated with flowers, Norwell, Mass.-based Hardy Flowers president Tom Hardy said.
Flower sales are strong and consumption in the United States is growing. The traffic in the convenience stores is huge and it is exciting to reach out to these new customers, he said. We have the regimen to make the stores successful and believe the sites will grow significantly.
Hardy previously owned two franchised flower shops, now closed, in Pembroke and Mashpee, Mass. While operating the stores, he pursued the business of selling fresh flowers from kiosks at c-stores, developing a following of more than 20 locations from Fall River to Osterville, Mass.
[Most] convenience stores don't sell flowers per se, and I am helping them get in the business, Hardy said.
