McLane, Hess Extend Agreement Through 2011

Distribution deal affects 820 stores

TEMPLE, Texas -- McLane Co. Inc. and Amerada Hess Corp. have signed a new agreement for McLane to serve Hess retail marketing locations. Under the agreement, which extends through 2011, McLane will distribute grocery products to more than 820 Hess stores.

"Our business growth has benefited from the strong relationship and service provided by McLane Co. McLane has been and continues to be an important part of our success," said Richard J. Lawlor, Amerada Hess' vice president of marketing.

"Amerada Hess has an outstanding reputation [image-nocss] for customer service and rapid responsiveness to the changing needs of the areas customer base," said Peter Leavitt, vice president of sales for McLane's Grocery Distribution division.

Amerada Hess, headquartered in New York, is a global integrated energy company engaged in the exploration for and the production, purchase, transportation and sale of crude oil and natural gas as well as the production and sale of refined petroleum products.

McLane provides distribution services throughout the United States, delivering food and nonfood products to more than 50,000 customer locations, including the convenience store, drug store, mass merchandise, quick service restaurant and movie theater industries. Headquartered in Temple, Texas, the company operates 19 grocery distribution divisions and 18 foodservice distribution centers as well as an industry specific software company. McLane is a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., Omaha.
