Rutter's Partners With Core-Mark

Retailer inks three-year distribution deal

YORK, Pa. -- Rutter's Farm Stores has entered into a three-year agreement with Core-Mark, one of the largest supply-chain management companies in the convenience store industry, the retailer announced today.

The new relationship provides Rutter's with access to the expansive portfolio from one of the nation's largest convenience store suppliers. In addition to the cost benefit that will result from the change, Rutter's pointed to Core-Mark's ability to deliver more frequently and at optimal times, shorter fulfillment times and proven track record of superior category management, as integral to the decision to align the business with Core-Mark. The improved process behind the supply-chain will also serve as a driving force behind Rutter's continued efforts to exceed customer service expectations and increase brand loyalty.

All of Rutter's 58 stores, located in central Pennsylvania, will be supplied by Core-Mark's Wilkes-Barre, Pa., wholesale distribution center.

"Rutter's is a pacesetter in the convenience store industry as well as a best-in-class retailer. The addition of Rutter's represents Core-Mark's continued commitment to delivering fresh and broad line products with a more efficient supply-chain, which resonates with the country's best retailers," said Christopher Hobson, senior vice president of marketing for Core-Mark. "We are very pleased and excited to begin this relationship and to work with Rutter's forward-thinking CEO, Scott Hartman, and his dynamic team; they continue to redefine what a convenience store and foodservice retailer can offer to its customers."

South San Francisco, Calif.-based Core-Mark offers a full range of products, marketing programs and technology solutions to approximately 30,000 customer locations in the United States and Canada through 28 distribution centers. Core-Mark services traditional convenience retailers, grocers, drug, liquor and specialty stores and other stores that carry convenience products.

York, Pa.-based Rutter's Farm Stores is a third-generation, family-owned business operating in central Pennsylvania with Scott Hartman as president and CEO, Todd Rutter as president of Rutter's Dairy and Tim Rutter as president of M&G Realty.
