TA to Sell TASER C2 Devices

Travel center network to offer personal protection devices
WESTLAKE, Ohio -- Beginning this month, TravelCenters of America LLC (TA) will sell TASER International Inc.'s TASER C2 Personal Protector devices in its retail stores operating under the TravelCenters of America, TA and Petro Stopping Centers brand names located along the nation's interstates.

The TASER C2 Personal Protector is a palm-sized self-protection device. The units incorporate a new public safety background check technology called CheckLok that adds to the accountability of the end user. With CheckLok, TASER C2 units are shipped in an inactive state. The devices cannot [image-nocss] be used until end user successfully completes a background check from the privacy of his or her own home or offices using a secureweb site or a toll-free number. After passing the background check, the user is issued a unique activation code and the device is registered with the company to that individual.

In addition to the TASER C2 device, the package includes a disposable TASER cartridge, owner's manual and training DVD video.

Rick Smith, CEO and founder of Scottsdale, Ariz.-based TASER International, said, "The TASER C2 was designed from the ground up with the consumer in mind. Its smaller size and affordable price make it a perfect self-protection option for the traveling public or the professional driver leaving loved ones home alone."

TravelCenters of America, headquartered in Westlake, Ohio is a major national chain of travel centers in 41 states and Canada. With convenient locations on interstate exits, TA offers its customers diesel and gasoline fueling services, full-service and quick-service restaurants, heavy-truck maintenance services, 24-hour convenience stores, entertainment and other services.
