TNT Marketing Comments on Ad

Weatherman part of yearlong campaign

ARLINGTON, Texas -- National convenience store broker TNT Marketing has released a statement apologizing for an advertisement it is currently running that the company fears may now be deemed insensitive in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Itself the victim of unfortunate timing, the company has been referencing the weather in its latest ad series, employing a theme that refers to its marketing experts as c-storologists. The latest ad in the serieswhich was developed, produced and distributed prior to the onslaught of Hurricane Katrinadepicts a television [image-nocss] reporter with an umbrella standing in a storm.

The company has issued the following statement to address the unfortunate timing of the advertisement:

The employees of TNT Marketing are deeply saddened by the misfortune that our customers, friends and fellow Americans have experienced due to Hurricane Katrina.

You may have noticed that our advertisements this year feature a meteorologist appearance, in an attempt to emphasize our c-storologist theme. Our weatherman is shown in front of a studio map in one ad and on the scene in the rain in another. TNT Marketing is concerned that some readers may find our September CSP ad to be insensitive to the hurricane victims. We wish to tell you that the advertisement art was submitted to the magazine for production weeks before the disaster and printed before it could be removed. Please accept our apology for the unfortunate timing of the advertisement and any offense that might have been taken.

Again, our hearts go out to those affected by this national tragedy.

Sincerely,

TNT Marketing
