FRESNO, Calif. -- A 7-Eleven franchisee in Fresno, Calif., has added a new service that is bringing it some local accolades.
Sushil and Josephine Kiran started a small library in their convenience store this past summer, according to a report in the Fresno Bee.
The library offers free books in exchange for students bringing in other books to share, according to the report. Readers are asked to fill out a form providing a short report on the books they’ve read, and in return, the kids get a choice of hot chocolate or a small Slurpee drink.
The book reports are kept in a binder to help other customers choose which stories might appeal to them.
Josephine Kiran thought of the idea to help encourage reading and get kids involved with literacy, the reports states.
